Goulburn Mulwaree Council is inviting community feedback on proposed safety improvements along McDermott Drive, adjacent to Mulwaree High School. This project is proudly funded by Transport for NSW Get NSW Active Program 2024-2025 which provides local councils with funding for projects that create safe, easy, and enjoyable walking and riding trips for communities across NSW. Council is providing commitment to creating a safer and more accessible environment for students, families, and the wider community.
The proposed works include the installation of a raised pedestrian (wombat) crossing with enhanced lighting to significantly improve visibility and prioritise pedestrian safety. These upgrades aim to discourage unsafe crossing of busy McDermott Drive and provide students with a safer, dedicated access point.
To further support safe and efficient school access, the project will also deliver:
· A bus-only zone for streamlined student drop-off and pick-up by school transport services,
· A designated Kiss and Drop area along McDermott Drive, offering parents a quick and safe location to drop off and collect their children.
These improvements are designed to calm traffic, encourage positive driver behaviour, and create a safer school precinct for everyone.
Please scroll down to provide your input in the survey section by 15 July 2025. Your feedback will help ensure the final design best serves the needs of students, families, and the local community.
