Background
In 2019 Council introduced a temporary parking permit scheme to assist residents, hospital and school staff and visitors to park during reconstruction of the hospital site. The scheme was planned to end when construction works were completed.
In 2023 Council endorsed an extension of the parking permit scheme and requested a review of the parking arrangements in and around the hospital. A review of the parking showed that most parking spaces in and around the hospital and school were occupied but less than 30 percent of vehicles displayed a parking permit.
Proposal to change parking scheme
Council is seeking your feedback on a proposal to change the current parking scheme around the Goulburn Base Hospital and Goulburn High School.
Map 1 -
Under the current parking scheme residents, hospital and school staff and visitors with a parking permit, are exempt from the parking restrictions. The restrictions were a temporary measure to assist parking during reconstruction on the hospital site.
Now that construction is complete the Council is proposing to remove the parking permit scheme and install a new parking scheme - shown in Map 2
What is the Proposal
The proposal is to remove all Parking Permit signs and change parking to either “Unrestricted Parking”, “2P 6am-6pm Mon-Fri” or “4P 6am-6pm Mon-Fri”. -
Map 2 -
Benefits of the Proposal
The benefits from removing the Parking Permit Scheme are
Maximise parking for residents, hospital and school staff and visitors
Install “2P 6am-6pm Mon-Fri” or “4P 6am-6pm Mon-Fri” parking in streets with residential frontage to restrict long term parking and to provide parking for visitors and tradespeople to these properties.
