Consultation has concluded

Clinton Street and Deccan Street form a designated heavy haul route connecting the Hume Highway to Crookwell. This route is frequently used by oversize heavy vehicles transporting industrial-scale wind turbines, and related components to wind farms in the Crookwell region.

Additionally, it serves as a critical transport link between the Hume Highway at Goulburn and key inland cities such as Bathurst and Orange, supporting agriculture and accommodating a high volume of general traffic.

Council has secured funding to upgrade the pavement and intersection along this route. Pavement works on Clinton Street and Deccan Street were successfully completed in December 2023. The intersection of Clinton Street and Deccan Street has been identified as a high-priority upgrade to improve traffic flow and enhance safety. The proposed worksite is illustrated in the figure adjacent:

Proposed works:

  1. The primary works involve construction of a new roundabout at the intersection.
  2. The roundabout will require construction of a mountable annulus to allow oversize vehicles transporting heavy windfarm machinery to safely turn right from Clinton Street into Deccan Street.
  3. The roundabout will also incorporate pedestrian crossings at all four sides.
  4. A full depth asphalt pavement is proposed (Depth to be decided based on investigation).
  5. Works will also include replacement of drainage, kerb and gutter.
  6. On completion of works, line marking will be applied.
  7. Advisory signage is to be installed on all approaches to the roundabout.
